Book on a coffee table

Have you ever wondered if you should organize everything in your possession at home or at work?

You might dream of all your belongings tucked away in containers, folded neatly, or arranged artistically on a shelf.

And that’s the way everything should be, every single day.

That’s how everyone should live their lives, right?

Well, not exactly…

In this post, you’ll find some practical reasons as to why you don’t have to organize everything you own.

Your home/office doesn’t have to look like a magazine spread.

You love the look of matching labeled mason jars filled with food and artfully organized on wooden shelves.

But you just can’t see yourself sitting down to collect jars, make labels, and getting everything set up.

After all, your pantry arrangement is working just fine for you.

Is there a bit of conflict here? You bet!

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be more organized…and not having a kitchen or bookcase look like it came straight from a magazine spread.

Your life is your life, and you should organize things as you see fit.

Don’t feel the least bit guilty if things don’t look like they came from a magazine.

You’ll be less stressed.

Having you been putting pressure on yourself to have everything arranged “just so,” each and every day?

Feeling guilty your collection of spices in the kitchen aren’t alphabetized?

Perhaps you’re fretting because you don’t have things tidied up at the end of the day?

Relax. Being organized is one thing; perfection is entirely another.

Why get stressed out over something if you can avoid it? Do what you can, when you can. That’s all anyone can do.

If you’ve got your stuff together most of the time (and you do, by the way), you’re doing just fine.

Sometimes a little bit of chaos can be good.

What? Did I just say a little bit of chaos…can be a good thing?

Actually, yes! Look at it this way.

Would you appreciate a recently decluttered and organized bedroom closet as much as one that was never, ever disorganized?

Probably not…

Chaos gives organization perspective. It’s like trying to imagine the color white without the color black.

After all, if there were no chaos, or no messes, there would be no need to organize things, now wouldn’t there?

So rest easy. Not everything has to be organized
