Hair accessories can quickly become plentiful in a home.

If you have a lot of hair accessories and can’t quite seem to get a grip on them, then you’ll need to take some targeted action.

In this post, you’ll find some tips to help you organize hair accessories.

Set some time aside in your calendar and let’s put those hair accessories in order!

PrepAre a workstation.

Make the hair accessory organization process easier for yourself and prepare a temporary workstation.

Spread out an old towel or blanket on a clear counter, table, dresser, or neatly made bed.

Gather a small garbage can or bag, and a recycling bag as well.

Collect hair accessories.

Next, you’ll want to collect all the different hair accessories you currently own.

Be sure to look in your bedroom, bathroom, and any other places in your home where you might store these accessories.

Gather these items and place them at your workstation.

Sort Hair Accessories.

Now, you’re going to sort through each of your items, one-by-one.

Take a moment to sort items into the following categories:

  • Keep – These are items you like using and will continue to use now and in future
  • Needs repair/cleaning – These are items that need to be glued back into place or are tarnished or need repair
  • Throw out – These are items that are uncomfortable, damaged, broken, unwanted, or unneeded

Next, take a moment to throw away any used hair accessories in the garbage.

Have unopened, factory sealed packages of hair accessories you no longer want or need? Consider donating them to a women’s shelter or aid organization.

Next, you’ll want to sort items into like categories such as: elastic bands, small clips, medium-sized clips, large clips, bobby pins, hair bands, other hair notions.

You might also want to sort hair accessories into separate groups for everyday or special occasion use.

Store what’s left.

Temporarily store and label items in small zippered bags.

In the meantime, look around your home for containers to hold your accessories.

Don’t have any storage solutions? You may want to go to the store for some organization supplies.

When you’re ready, you can transfer hair accessories into any of these containers for permanent storage.

You can use small clean plastic containers with lids, decorative boxes, small baskets, decorative bowls, or the organization supplies purchased at a store.

Have multiple hair accessories on hand?

Drop in a hair elastic or two, as well as small and large clips in your purse or cosmetic kit, gym bag, and travel bag.

You’ll always be ready for hair styling when you are on the go or traveling.
