3 Creative Ways to Improve Your Productivity

3 Creative Ways to Improve Your Productivity Do you think the only way to be more productive is to stick to old habits?

Are you looking for some inspiration and motivation when it comes to getting things done?

In this post, I offer several creative ways to jumpstart a productivity slump.

Reach for these methods the next time you’re feeling less than inspired to work

Power up an inspiring playlist.

A quick way to energize your work pace is to play some heart-pounding, inspiring, and exhilarating music.

You could queue up your favorite band, album, or radio station, or create a unique playlist.

If listening to music isn’t enough, give yourself a music-based challenge.

You could challenge yourself to write down twenty ideas for a project in the time it takes to listen to your favorite song, or spend the length of an album filing a stack of papers.

Dress for success.

This tip is for those times when you’re feeling unmotivated, or uninspired. The idea is to shake up your routine with something that’s not so routine. All you have to do is change your clothes! Outfitting yourself with something you don’t normally wear may give you an extra boost of energy and motivation to tackle your work.

Go ahead and put on your favorite or special suit, shirt, slacks, dress, or skirt. You can’t help but feel good in clothing that makes you look good…and you may find you get more work done this way, too.

Reframe your workspace.

While working at same location has it’s benefits, routines can become stale. Lighten up your approach towards getting things done by changing your work location every once and awhile. You might decide to do some brainstorming outdoors on a bench in a local park,  draft an email in a local coffee shop, or revise a project in an empty conference room or office.

Even if you don’t have the luxury of changing your physical location, you could make modifications to your current location. You could adjust your desk or chair to face another direction in your office or room, add more lighting to your work area, or temporarily remove a few items from your desk for a clear, and unhindered space on which to work.

How about you? What do you do when you get into a productivity slump? Do you take a break, power through your work, or change-up your work with a creative approach? Join the conversation and leave a comment below!
