Silly Order

Today is April Fool’s Day, a day known for practical jokes, silly gags and clever pranks.

For today’s post, I thought I might point out some very funny things about our daily lives.

Here’s a short collection of random facts and realizations all related to order with a humorous twist:

Work.

Years ago people were paid were to move. Nowadays, people are paid to sit. We even  pay to go to a place to move (ever hear of a place called a gym?). Baffles the mind, doesn’t it?

Grocery shopping.

How silly is this? You get a cart to put things into the cart; you take things off the shelf to put into the cart; you take things out of the cart to place at the register; you put things into a bag, which goes back into the cart; you take bags out of the cart to put into your car; you take bags out of your car to take into your house; you take things out of the bag and put items into your shelves/in the fridge. Repeat weekly. (Thanks to N.S.I. for this realization).

Restroom stalls.

You’ve probably heard all the jokes by comedians about bathrooms and how everyone goes into one giant room to use the facilities at the same time and sit in a horizontal line. I have to say you really haven’t lived unless you’ve seen a setup of bathroom stalls as I have with the stalls placed one in front of another. As my friend remarked when we stumbled upon this restroom, “Whoa, it’s like riding on a bus!”

Games.

Most games are about putting things in order. Just take a look at this list:

Word Search – Someone has hidden words within a jumbled mess of letters and it’s your job to find the words

Bowling – You neatly set up a stack of pins, roll a ball towards them and knock them down, and then have to set up the pins again so you can knock them over again

Billiards – You set up a tidy triangle arrangement of balls on a table, break them apart, and then put the balls in the holes one after the other only to set up the balls in a tidy triangle once again

Jigsaw Puzzle – Someone has cut up a picture into little pieces in crazy patterns, and now it’s your job to match the pieces and put them back together again

Have fun and safe April Fool’s Day!
